(Montreal, Thursday, September 29th) – Notre-Dame-des-Arts (NDA), a new community-led organization supporting NDG artists and local art initiatives is thrilled to announce that the 7th edition of Arts Week was met with great success in NDG.
‘’NDA is delighted to have helped Arts Week reach its largest audience to date. With the expanded diversity of events that we’ve helped them deliver, they’ve managed to attract more media attention and greater participation from community residents, this is what community building through arts and culture is about.” said Paul Scriver, president of Notre-Dame-des-Arts.
As a local organization supporting arts in NDG, Notre-Dame-des-Arts was honoured to fundraise for activities such as Opera in the Park, Tango in the Park, Belles Lettres, and The Sound of Bagpipes all of which contributed to the success of the 7th edition of Arts Week.
‘’The great turnout to these events demonstrates the value of support from a local patron like Notre-Dame-des-Arts”, said Michael Simkin, Executive Director of NDG Arts Week.
Opera in the Park presented ‘’Ainsi font toutes’’, the French version of Cosi fan tutte by W.A. Mozart in Parc Girourard, the Belle Lettres series brought together 15 award-winning authors for three nights of prose and poetry readings at a Shaika Café, while Tango in the Park and The Sound of Bagpipes attracted participants of all ages for a demonstration and quick workshop on Argentinian Tango and Highland dancing.
Notre-Dame-des-Arts would like to thank all local contributors and donors for their support. Thanks to our fundraiser in the spring and to handful of partrons of arts, the arts and culture community of the NDG borough continues to flourish.
